Messi Fined By CONMEBOL For Copa America Comments

Lionel Messi has been fined a $1500  for his comments passed about the federation’s “corruption” during this summer’s Copa America.
Additionally, the Argentina star will serve a one-game suspension for the red card he received against Chile in the competition’s third-place match.
Messi went off on the South American federation earlier this month, but they have responded with a negligible fine and no further suspension beyond the automatic one-game punishment for a red card.
After being sent off against Chile, Messi skipped the Copa America medal ceremony, clearly still upset about his red card in the third-place game and what transpired in his nation’s semi-final defeat to host country Brazil.
CONMEBOL responded to Messi’s comments with a withering statement of their own, accusing the Barcelona star of a “lack of respect.”
"There is no doubt, the whole thing is set up for Brazil," Messi charged after several controversial VAR decisions went against Argentina in the semi-final.
"I hope the VAR and referees don't play any part in the final and that Peru can compete but it looks tough to me.
"I did not want to be part of this corruption, we shouldn't have to be part of this disrespect we suffered during the Copa America.
"We could have gone further but we weren't allowed into the final. Corruption, referees and all the rest stopped people from enjoying the football.”
Brazil went on to defeat Peru 3-1 in the final to lift the Copa America on home soil.
"In football sometimes you win and sometimes you lose and accepting the outcome of a match with loyalty and respect is a fundamental pillar of fair play. Same goes to the refereeing decisions, that are human and will never be perfect," the statement read. 
"Said accusations represent a lack of respect for the competition, all the football players involved and the hundreds of professionals of CONMEBOL, an institution that since 2016 has been tirelessly working to professionalise and develop South American football."
If Messi was bothered at all by the fine he received on Tuesday he wasn’t showing it. Immediately after the punishment was announced he posted a picture of himself on Instagram along with family and friends enjoying their vacation.

Sports Minister to Face Parliament Over Ghana’s Failed AFCON Campaign

 Minority MPs have filed an urgent question to be answered by Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah    Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah, is expected to be hauled to Parliament, to answer why Ghana performed poorly at the 2019 AFCON tournament. The MPs expressed concerns over the Black Stars’ poor performance which saw them exit the tournament after Monday’s defeat to Tunisia at Ismailia in Egypt. Black Stars lost 5-4 on penalties to the Carthage Eagles following a 1-1 in 120 minutes of action. Tornadoes and Hailstorms killed Six Tourists in Greece

      H ailstorms  and violent  Tornadoes   killed six(6) tourists in northern Greece late Wednesday, police said.  Many more were injured when strong winds hit the region of Halkidiki, near the city of Thessaloniki, authorities added.  Footages showed overturned cars, fallen trees, torn roofs. “Six tourists were killed and at least 30 people were injured during this cyclone,” Charalambos Steriadis, head of civil protection in northern Greece, said. The freak storm lasted about 20 minutes, according to witnesses interviewed. A Czech couple died when strong winds blew their caravan away while a Russian man and his son were killed by a falling tree, police said. Debris from a building killed a woman from Romania and her child. According to port police, a fisherman in his sixties was also missing. The storms came after temperatures in Greece soared to 37 degrees centigrade (98 degrees Fahrenheit) over the past two days.
