what should I do if my nose is blocked

NOSE CONGESTION

Nose block commonly occurs when there is inflammation of the mucous membrane in the nose. This leads to dilation of the blood vessels in the nose causing congestion.

The membranes get filled with water and swell up causing the blockage. The inflammation may be due to infection or allergies. That cause needs to be diagnosed and treated. You should consult your doctor for that.

In the meantime, you can try to inhale steam which will soothe the nasal passages. You could also try any over-the-counter nasal decongestant drops for short term relief.

You should _not_ use these drops more than twice a day and for more than five days. It can lead to some unpleasant side effects if used indiscriminately.

This advice is generic and can never replace a consultation with your personal physician.
